Big mountains. Big adventures. Are you ready? 🏔️
GODZONE Chapter 13 is heading to Aoraki/Mount Cook and the Mackenzie in February 2027. And this time, teams can expect a significant mountaineering component.
If you’ve been following the latest GODZONE announcements, you’ll have seen the new mountaineering equipment requirements. But there’s a big difference between having a harness, crampons and an ice axe in your kit and actually knowing how to use them confidently.
Moving through alpine terrain requires a whole new set of skills. From crampon and ice axe techniques to rope systems, anchors and efficient movement on snow and ice, there’s plenty to learn and practise.
Our suggestion? Get into the mountains before race day!
Alpine Recreation runs introductory mountaineering courses in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, giving you the opportunity to develop practical skills in the environment they’re designed for.
You’ll learn from experienced IFMGA/NZMGA guides, with plenty of hands-on practice in genuine alpine terrain.
Got a team of four preparing for GODZONE? We can also put together a custom training course to focus on your team’s specific requirements and experience.
Don’t leave it until the last minute. Make the most of having the mountains on your doorstep this summer.
