Custom Mountaineering Course | Private Instruction

A big week in the hills with Steve, based at the incredible Caroline Hut. From avalanche rescue and snow science to digging and sleeping in a snow cave big enough for five — this was a proper alpine classroom.

We topped it off with a summit of Kaitiaki Peak, with Steve leading confidently along a rocky ridge, making smart decisions and placing solid protection. When the weather rolled in, training continued inside by the fire with glacier rope work and crevasse rescue — and we were rewarded with a full moon over Malte Brun and the Caroline Face of Aoraki from the hut window.
