That’s what makes Nordic ski touring in the Two Thumb Range so special.

No crowded ski fields. No chairlifts. Just rolling alpine terrain, crisp winter air, and the simple rhythm of travelling through the mountains under your own power. Whether you’re new to Nordic skiing or already hooked, it’s an incredible way to explore the backcountry at a slower pace and discover parts of the mountains that few people see.

After a day on the snow, there’s nothing better than returning to Rex Simpson Hut, lighting the fire, sharing stories over dinner, and watching the sun set over the Southern Alps.
