High up in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, the Ball Pass Summit Trek delivered everything we love about true alpine travel.

The first day began hiking into the cloud, trusting the process. Overnight the skies cleared, revealing Aoraki and the Caroline Face glowing in starlight ✨

What followed, was a classic alpine day — learning essential mountaineering skills, using crampons and ice axe, practising self-arrest, climbing Kaitiaki Peak, then crossing Ball Pass and returning via the Ball Glacier.

We finished with a stunning walk out along Ball Ridge, big views all the way to the valley floor.

A challenging, rewarding trek that blends alpine skills, high mountain scenery and real adventure.
