It’s meant to be spring… and just like that, we’re straight back to winter. ❄️

We were meant to fly into O’Leary’s Hut this morning, but the weather had other ideas. Heavy snow around Tekapo ruled out any chance of a flight, so we switched gears and made the most of a day closer to town.

With the focus on skills, we worked through rope systems and crevasse rescue techniques. Once the snow eased and the clouds lifted, we headed outside to a completely transformed Tekapo landscape — everything was white!

A lap on the cross-country skis, a refresher on avalanche beacon searches and some prussicking practice rounded out a fun and productive day.

Fresh snow is on the ground and we’re looking forward to putting it to good use tomorrow. 🎿❄️
