A cold southerly brought snow and wild weather for the start of our trip to O’Leary’s Hut in the Cass Valley.

The walk in felt like stepping into another world, with snow right down to the valley floor. ❄️

Then the sun came out and turned up the heat. ☀️

Clear skies, huge views and a couple of brilliant days of spring ski touring — including an adventurous ski tour up to the ridge above Falcon’s Nest, with views across to Aoraki Mount Cook and the Main Divide.

Then long corn laps in the sun above the hut.

A super fun crew, a great few days and Cass Valley Ski touring at its best. A quintessentially kiwi backcountry experience🤘⛷️
