Blue skies, a morning flight over Lake Tekapo and the Mackenzie Basin, and suddenly the Two Thumb Range was ours. Deep in the mountains, with no tracks and no crowds, we spent the day hunting out creamy turns in sheltered basins that had escaped the SW winds.
From the upper ridges, the views stretched from Lake Tekapo to the Southern Alps and Main Divide before a long, flowing descent all the way down to our vehicle pick-up. Days like these are what heli-accessed ski touring is all about. 🚁❄️⛷️
