A little taste of winter in the Ball Pass region ❄️🏔️

Our latest Ball Pass Summit Trek enjoyed fresh snow, crisp blue skies and spectacular views across the Tasman Glacier and Aoraki / Mount Cook. While we’d normally be running this as a snowshoeing trip by this time of year, winter has had a slow start, leaving just enough snow to transform the landscape without making travel too difficult.

These shoulder-season conditions don’t come around every year, creating a unique opportunity to experience one of New Zealand’s classic alpine adventures in a completely different light.

From sunrise at Caroline Hut to untouched snow, frozen tarns and panoramic mountain views, it’s hard to imagine a better place to spend a winter’s day.

Winter in the Southern Alps is truly something special.
