Winter
Ski Touring & Snowshoe Adventures
In winter, the Two Thumb Range transforms into a snow-covered playground ideal for ski touring, splitboarding, and snowshoeing. Our trips are based out of a warm, comfortable hut and designed for intermediate to advanced skiers looking for a remote but manageable alpine touring experience.
Winter options include:

Our Private Mountain Hut
Rex Simpson Hut
One of the key advantages of exploring the Two Thumb Range with Alpine Recreation is exclusive access to our privately owned high-country hut.
Rex Simpson Hut (1300m) is the perfect base for alpine hikes and winter snowshoeing, ski / split-board touring and backcountry instruction courses.
The hut offers bunk-style accommodation, solar power, heating, and hearty meals — all in a remote setting you won’t find on any public track.
