Anne Braun-Elwert

Anne helped her husband, Gottlieb Braun-Elwert, to set up Alpine Recreation Canterbury Ltd in 1981, initially based in Christchurch. By 1984 both had given up teaching careers and moved to Lake Tekapo to run Alpine Recreation full-time, building Rex Simpson Hut in the Two Thumb Range in 1985 and later Caroline Hut in Aoraki National Park in 1990. After Gottlieb's untimely death from an aneurysm in 2008 Anne has continued to run the company assisted by daughter, Elke (IFMGA), Axel Reiser (General Manager) and a great team of guides.
