Tena tatou katoa!

No Augsburg i Tiamani oku tupuna.
Ko Sabine Schweitzer taku wahine. Kotahi taku tama. Ko Ciaran tana ingoa.
Ko Axel Reiser toku ingoa. Kei Otautahi me Tekapo toku kainga inaianei.

Nau mei ki Tekapo me Tiritiri-o-te-moana

No reira. Tena koutou! Tena koutou!
Tena tatou katoa!

Greetings to all of us!
The first word to the Creator
That is the beginning and the end of all things.
Persevere with determination and don’t be put off by small obstacles

My bird was ready to get to Aoraki.
Here is my bird by the Waimakariri river.
My bird landed on the land of the Canterbury plains.

My ancestors were from Augsburg, Germany.
Sabine Schweitzer is my wife. I have one son. His name is Ciaran.
My name is Axel Reiser. My home is now in Christchurch and also Tekapo.

Welcome to Tekapo and the Southern Alps of Aoraki Mt Cook

Thanks you!
Greetings again to all of you.

I am Axel and the General Manager here at Alpine Recreation. I am the one responsible for making things run smoothly and make guides and guests feel happy when booking on our trips. Luckily, I am a guide as well and will meet many of you on skis or while trekking in our beautiful mountains.
I grew up with mountains and have been lucky that our parents took us on many trips to the European Alps. I have a particularly fond connection to the Val d'Anniviers in Switzerland , where I have skied and hiked as a kid and then later worked as a ski instructor - before my "bird" flew to Aotearoa in 1999.
Whilst skiing is my real life long passion, I do enjoy summer. I have played all sorts of sports from football to tennis, volleyball and swimming. I have always liked running and that was my main competitive focus in my 20s and 30s - track, XC and road. In New Zealand, I extended the running to triathlon and competed semi-professionally for a few year in long-distance triathlons - with 2 visits to the holy grail of the sport @ Ironman Hawaii in Kona.
Once the competitive fire stated to burn a wee bit lower, it was time to give back to the young by taking on the role of a development coach here in Christchurch. With some others, I helped to establish the Canterbury Triathlon Academy.
Today my role here at Alpine Recreation, does not allow for much coaching any more, but I carry this experience with me and I particularly enjoy every trip that allows me to introduce young people or even the entire family to ski touring or trekking in Tiritiri-o-te-moana.
Ngā mihi,
Axel
